How To Find Out Someone's Email Address
I recently celebrated the benefits of cold emailing, a
powerful tool for making meaningful links with other professionals and unicorn
investors. But, to be successful, you need the email addresses of the people
you want to contact.
You can reach out on social media, but that's not always the
most effective approach. Sending a customized email (not a standard advertising
message) that lets you connect is the way to go. If you're trying to track
someone email address, here's 10 ways you can achieve that goal for free.
1. While this may seem obvious, it's one of the best places
to start. For some employees, many companies provide contact information, so
don't neglect this resource just because it seems simple. When you hit the web,
go to the About Us section to see if they have information for executives or
other employees.
2. There's plenty of information floating around online, and
Google's search feature can be the key to accessing it. You could find
someone's email address just search their name and the word "email"
or "touch." Yes, it can be that easy.
Alternatively, try other combinations like the name of the
person and company name or title. Going through these options takes only a few
minutes, and otherwise it doesn't cost you a penny.
When you find in the business even a single email address,
it's not hard to crack the code once you see formatting. Now, this only works
if you have the name of the person, can be trickier for people with common
names (think "John Smith") where the company could easily have more
than one person with the same name, or names with multiple potential variants
(Robert, Bob, Rob).
Nevertheless, even if you communicate with the wrong person,
you may be able to get your target's email address if the incorrect identity
results in a response .So long as you don't share something that shouldn't be
used by someone else or as a potential phishing attempt, it's worth trying.
4. Try an Advanced Google Search if you want to check if
your guess at an email address is right. Put the email address in the search
bar with quotes on either side, like this:
"firstname.lastname@company.com." If you're right, the search results
can appear. Seek other versions before you find the unicorn email address among
the donkeys.
5. Join ZoomInfo By adding the ZoomInfo plugin to your
Outlook, you get 10 free contacts each month in exchange for giving them access
to your contacts. Millions (on millions) of individuals are listed in ZoomInfo,
together with 6 + million business profiles, making their database
comprehensive.
6. Talk with an admin If you can locate your company's
department phone number, see if you can talk to their admin. You don't just
want to ask for an email address because you don't have it. You must be a
little crafty to get this to work.
Ask the admin if they can give you some support (people
often like to be supportive, so this statement sets the stage). Ask if they can
confirm the email address of the person and then give them your best guess of
what that email should be. Usually, when you make (what they perceive to be) a
mistake, they will stop you and give you the right address.
7. Occasionally, people list their email addresses on social
media. Yes, this isn't common, but it takes only a few seconds to look, so
check personal and company pages to see if tidbits are available.
8. Look for Personal Websites and Blogs The sheer number of
personal websites and blogs out there is staggering, and many professionals and
managers keep one to help establish their personal brand. If you have no luck
with company-related searches, explore personal ones.
Many people link back to their personal website on their
social media profiles, particularly on LinkedIn and Twitter, so see if you can
find their website there and use that information for further searches. You can
end up with personal email this way, but that can be just as successful as
reaching out to your agency.
Great job post 9. PEOPLE SEARCH SITES Some people search
sites actually allow you to receive results free of charge, though less common.
It doesn't hurt to try this method, though. Keep in mind that the information
you find may also be out - of-date, so your mileage may vary, but it doesn't
cost you anything anyway.
10. Jigsaw.com While Jigsaw.com has paid search options, you
can search for "free" information. They use a model where, if you
provide one contact, you will have one without an additional charge. It is
important to note that all information is provided to users, so there is no
guarantee that it is accurate. Plus, the person you want to connect with isn't
there at all.
If these free options don't produce the results you need,
there's also a wide range of paid services. Or, you can simply reach out on
social media directly and see if you can connect there.
